Professional Experience

Localization Researcher  - United States Agency for International Development (USAID)​​​​ (October 2021 - Present)

  • Designing and facilitating a 6-month research project alongside a team of researchers and mentors to explore how USAID can better finance local actors in humanitarian aid projects within Sub-Saharan Africa. 
  • Assembling insights from interviews from staff within USAID and key stakeholder organizations, cleaning and analyzing funding application and decision data, and comparing takeaways from project success stories from the region

Administrative Assistant - Harris School of Public Policy, University of Chicago (November 2021 - Present)

  • Supporting the expansion of the development policy program at Harris under the supervision and guidance of Dr.  Rebecca Wolfe, Senior Lecturer and Harris's Executive Director of International Policy and Development
  • Spearheading the formation of a wide-reaching international development community centered at Harris

Policy Research Associate - We All Count (February - September 2021)

  • Advised on a consulting project with USAID, conducting a six-month data literacy assignment for the Office of HIV/AIDS (OHA) at USAID's Bureau for Global Health
  • Conducted research analysis and policy evaluation to enhance OHA's ability to make data-driven decisions by streamlining data processes across teams and improved storytelling within and across the nine main divisions

Communication and Events Assistant - Office of the Dean, UofT's Faculty of Arts and Science (September 2020 - September 2021)

  • Led social media communications for the faculty's mental health initiatives. Doubled the media audience by 100% and designed and implemented entire new brand standardization and style
  • Collaborated with Strategic Partnerships Office to curate content and communications for faculty's inaugural virtual mental health conference with a $40,000 budget

Research and Policy Analyst - Datassist (June - August 2019)

  • Headed research and analysis on relevant current practices and structures particularly concentrated on education accountability and evaluation for external contracts
  • Delivered collaboratively written report highlighting prominent themes or patterns in research to shape policy perception within the organization and the field based on three months of in-depth research

Policy and Program Assistant - Ministry of Children and Youth Services, Ontario Government (April - August 2018)

  • Furthered the project to re-align efforts across multiple sectors (with 14 key cross-sector partners) to creatively address the complex issues impacting outcomes for disadvantaged youth across Ontario
  • Conducted policy research and synthesized information into concise policy briefs focused on innovating funding models and best practices from comparable projects
  • Briefed senior leadership within the team and the Assistant Deputy Minister on advancements in the field and on the team's progress

Additional experience

Independent Researcher - Laidlaw Undergraduate Research and Leadership Programme (March 2019 - September 2020)

  • Awarded entrance to the Laidlaw Programme, an international and interdisciplinary award providing funding for two summers of independent research and leadership training
  • Researched the diverse implications of the policies and practices designed to support newcomers in the Ontario education system, leading to a now-published research paper

Vice-Chair and Governor - University of Toronto's Faculty of Arts and Science (FAS) Council (September 2019 - June 2020)

  • Elected by the body to partner with senior administration to oversee the group's effort to discuss and approval Faculty policies in such areas as curriculum development, academic standards, and admission policies
  • Empowered student success by reviewing and analyzing innovative policy proposals at the Faculty’s new Special Committee on Academic Policy, including extending timeline for students to pass/fail courses

I.R.C.C. (Newcomer Program) Administrative Assistant - The 519 (September 2019 - April 2020)

  • Enhanced the administrative processes involved in the newcomer program at The 519, Toronto’s prominent queer community centre, by overhauling the storage and filing system
  • Boosted the productivity of the 519's Coordinator of LGBTQ Newcomer Settlement Services to assistant the administrative needs of the program, helping to support the refugee claims of a large number of LGBTQ+ newcomers each month

Community Involvement

  • Appointed as External Relations Vice-Chair for the Harris School’s International Development and Policy Association
  • Services as the Arts & Culture Director at Hart House Debates and Dialogue Committee for two years and facilitated public dialogue with events ranging from 50-350 people about timely issues, ranging from diversity in arts to social responsibility around (im)migration
  • Advised on campus-wide policies and programs devoted to student mental health as a member of the FAS's Mental Health Advisory Committee for a 16-month period
  • Elected to be the Policy Director for the Diaspora and Transnational Studies Union. created a constitution replicating a direct democracy concentrated on inclusion alongside a new environmental policy devoted to sustainable behaviours
  • Led Trinity College's LGBTQ2S+ student group as President for one year; established new initiatives to connect students to the broader queer community in Toronto and building bridges with associated student groups
  • Sat on Trinity College's Senate, Board of Stewards, and Corporation for two consecutive academic terms to improve administration's support of students and fostering inclusivity within the college
  • Represented all undergraduate humanities students on the Board of the University of Toronto Student Union from 2019 to 2020. Focusing on the Governance Committee, prioritised advocacy for policy changes and new mental health programs
